2016
Eletson celebrates its’ 50 year anniversary.
2015
Eletson takes delivery of its first 12,000 cbm LPG/LEG carrier, the ”Othoni” from HMD. Two more sisterships the ”Astipalea” and the ”Paros” deliver before the end of the year.
Eletson places a newbuilding order for four coated, ice class Aframax tankers at SWS, China for delivery in 2017-18.
Eletson Gas places newbuilding orders, for four more 12,000 cbm LPG/LEG carriers with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), South Korea. The ships will be delivered in 2018.
Eletson completes sale of three 1995 built MRs and sells oldest tanker in the fleet, the 1992 built ”Velopoula”. All vessels ordered and operated by Eletson, are sold for further trading.
2014
Eletson acquires three LR1 tankers, built 2004 in HHI and Samsung South Korea.
2013
Eletson returns to the US High Yield Bond market and issues $300 million worth of notes maturing in 2022. Eletson Gas acquires a 2003 built 20,500 cbm semi ref LPG carrier, the “Mathraki”. Eletson Gas places newbuilding orders, for two more 12,000 cbm and two 38,000 cbm ethylene-capable semi refrigerated vessels with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), South Korea and Sinopacific, China respectively. Eletson announces the formation of Eletson Gas, a joint venture with the Blackstone group. Eletson Corporation provides the technical management of the Eletson Gas fleet.
2012
On the 1st of March, Eletson co-founder, John E. Karastamatis passes away. Eletson Corporation is awarded by Naftika Chronika and the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping Economists the “Efkranti Award” for its support towards Greek maritime education and for encouraging Greek youth to follow a career at sea. Eletson takes delivery of a fifth 35,000 cbm LPG/NH3 carrier, the “Symi” from HMD.
2010
By the end of this year Eletson has taken delivery of two LPG/NH3 carriers and two IMO III chemical tankers from HMD and operates a fleet of 27 vessels.
2009
Delivery of the first 35,000 cbm LPG/NH3 carrier, named “Anafi”.
2008
Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards names Eletson Corporation “Tanker company of the year”, for its progressive approach to tanker operations over many years, but also for its latest expansion into the LPG sector.
2007
Eletson expands its presence in the Panamax market with the acquisition of 4 tankers built 2004-6 in Daewoo, South Korea and Romania.
2006
Eletson co-founder Gregory B. Hadjieleftheriadis retires and sells his stake to the remaining shareholders. Eletson orders six 52,000 dwt IMO III chemical tankers at HMD, South Korea. Eletson expands into the LPG sector and orders four 35,000 cbm LPG/NH3 carriers at HMD, South Korea.
2003
On the 6th of February, Eletson co-founder, Erric B. Kertsikoff passes away. Eletson finalizes the sale of the sisterships m/ts Samothraki, Psara, Halki and Shinoussa to Prime Marine Management of Athens, Greece. Simultaneously with the sale, the vessels enter into a leaseback transaction with Eletson for a period of approximately 5 years. This transaction marks the first time in Eletson’s history where vessels are managed under a bareboat agreement.
2001
On the 9th of March, Eletson co-founder, Apostolos B. Hadjieleftheriadis passes away. Eletson orders two additional Aframax product tankers of 105,500 dwt at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), South Korea.
2000
Together with two Panamax product tankers, Eletson orders its first Aframax product tankers of 105,500 dwt with HHI, South Korea.
1999
Eletson buys two resale post-Panamax product tankers of 76,000 dwt from Halla Shipyard, South Korea. Eletson selects Lloyd’s Register of Shipping for the classification of all its vessels.
1996
Eletson sells last of single hull vessels and becomes one of the first companies world-wide to own and operate only double hull tankers.
1993
Eletson places first European Shipping High Yield Bond issue in the US public debt market for $ 140 million maturing in 2003.
1992
Delivery of M/T Alkyonis, the first panamax product tanker in the Eletson fleet.
1989 – 1996
Between 1989 and 1996 Eletson orders fifteen Handymax and nine Panamax product tankers. All double hulls.
1986
Eletson orders first series of 46,000 dwt double hull product tankers at Korea Shipbuilding and Engineering Corporation – KSEC (currently Hanjin Shipyard), three years before OPA 90.
1985
Eletson Holdings Inc., established. Eletson Maritime Inc., established in New York.
1983
Eletson Maritime Ltd., established in London. Eletson orders five product tankers of 29,900 dwt at Kanda Shipyard, Japan.
1981
Eletson purchases seven, early 1970’s built, product tankers of 30,000 dwt, establishing its presence in the dirty product trades.
1969
Eletson purchases its first tanker, the Evi T of 15,900 dwt.
1966
Eletson founded by Vassilis G. Hadjieleftheriadis together with his two sons and two sons-in-law. First vessel purchased; the m/v Maria T, a 30 year old combination carrier of 2,500 dwt.
